
Thomas Vanthournout
Counsel
Thomas Vanthournout covers all aspects of banking and finance law, with a particular focus on leveraged acquisition finance, real estate finance, project finance and general corporate lending. During his career he gained extensive experience representing a wide range of international banks and financial institutions, private equity sponsors, real estate developers and corporate borrowers on domestic and cross-border financing transactions.
Thomas holds a law degree from Ghent University (magna cum laude, 2012), and spent a semester at the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland as part of an Erasmus exchange program. He further obtained a master of laws (LL.M.) in International Financial Law from King’s College London (2013) and holds a postgraduate degree in Corporate Finance from KU Leuven (summa cum laude, 2021).
Before joining Liedekerke, Thomas worked in the Brussels, Amsterdam and London offices of an international law firm, and has also been seconded as legal counsel to BNP Paribas Fortis in Brussels.

Advised One Rock Capital Partners, a private equity sponsor, on the Belgian law aspects of a first lien credit agreement for the financing of the acquisition of the Flexsys group, a global supplier of rubber chemicals and solutions.
Advised Innovatus Capital Partners, a private credit provider, on the Belgian law aspects of the multi-purpose financing of MDxHealth, a multinational healthcare company listed on Euronext and NASDAQ.
Advised Natixis, New York Branch on the financing of the acquisition of Ranger Airshop Holdings, a ULD and cargo products and services company, by Alinda Capital Partners, an infrastructure investment firm.
Advised Shawbrook Bank on the financing of the acquisition of the Idox Compliance group, an EU-based provider of e-learning solutions, by Sponge Group Holdings, a corporate learning platform backed by private equity fund Aliter Capital.
Advised Postbank, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank, on the real estate financing of the acquisition of the 'Louise 120' building located Avenue Louise 120 in Brussels by Catella Real Estate, a European property investment firm.
